About the Financially Free Advisor

Hi there, I’m Willy Lim.

I graduated from National University of Singapore with a Masters Degree in Computer Science in 1999. As I was on government scholarship, I had to serve my country in the defence industry for 6 years.

After working for 3 years, I realised that I could never achieve financial freedom working at a 9 to 5 job. I broke my bond with the government after serving 3 years and paid the liquidated damages of over S$30,000 to go into business in 2001.

My business took me to from Singapore to Malaysia to China. I spent 5 years building my business and the last four years in China.

I became financially free in 2006: I was only 32.

While I spent most of 2006 holidaying, I pursued my interest in investments and became a licensed financial advisor with the Monetary Authority of Singapore. To my dismay, the more I know about unit trusts and investments, the more dismay I became: the average person takes advice from a financial adviser who is not financiallly free and the average person can never retire comfortably using these vehicles! That’s like the blind leading the blind!

That lead me to design the Cashflow Training based on Robert Kiyosaki’s Cashflow game to educate the public on the importance of financial literacy and building a passive income stream for themselves.

I’m starting this website to share my experience in achieving financial freedom, to give back to the marketplace which has given me so much. I hope to help others, who are in pursuit of financial freedom, to find inspiration and encouragement from my sharing.
